Applications of Vegetable Squalane (CAS:2068‑80‑6)
Product Introduction
Vegetable squalane is a high‑grade natural oil featuring stability, skin‑adhering property, soft texture, mildness and bio‑active effects. It is a colourless transparent liquid with high chemical stability. Upon spreading and application, it delivers a light‑weight, non‑greasy skin feel, making it an oil with excellent sensory performance. Owing to its good permeability and pure skin‑conditioning effects, it is widely applied in the cosmetics industry.
Vegetable squalane is a natural component of sebum and can be regarded as biomimetic sebum. When applied to the skin, it is rapidly absorbed and facilitates the penetration of other active ingredients. It plays a vital role in repairing the skin barrier. It not only boosts basal cell proliferation, but also exerts notable physiological effects in delaying skin ageing as well as improving and fading chloasma.
Thanks to its stability and high purity, vegetable squalane contains few impurities. As a substance native to skin physiology, it is extremely mild, suitable for sensitive skin and infant skin, and non‑comedogenic. No tacky sensation occurs during or after application. After absorption, it forms a breathable cushion‑like film to enhance skin softness and moisturisation.
Vegetable squalane is a saturated alkane. Unlike vegetable oils, it will not go rancid under high‑temperature or ultraviolet‑ray exposure. It remains stable within the temperature range of ‑30 °C to 200 °C, so it can be used in thermoplastic products such as lipsticks. It can also be incorporated into hair‑care products to boost hair gloss and reduce tangling. It is non‑irritating and non‑sensitising to skin with high safety, and is especially suitable for infant care products.
