Chemical Properties

Tetrahydrofurfuryl Acrylate (TFA) is a significant specialty acrylic ester. Its cyclic ether group exhibits greater reactivity than linear ether groups, while the hydrogen atom on the α-carbon of the ether bond also possesses moderate reactivity. This unique structure confers distinctive properties to subsequent products.

Applications

When used as a copolymer component in acrylic resins blended with amino resins, tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate enables curing at lower temperatures (around 100°C). Its molecular bonds exhibit inherent flexibility, providing plasticizing effects when combined with other resins. Furthermore, tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate serves as a monomer diluent in UV-curable products. Its unique cyclic ether structure provides superior adhesion to most substrates compared to other monofunctional monomers. It also exhibits low shrinkage, strong weather resistance, high abrasion resistance, and excellent water resistance. Consequently, it is widely used in UV-curable adhesives, coatings, inks, and related fields.
