Sodium formate (also known as formic acid sodium salt) is a white, crystalline powder or granules with excellent solubility and reducing properties. As the sodium salt of formic acid, it serves as a versatile chemical intermediate and functional additive across a wide spectrum of industries. Leather Tanning Industry
A primary consumer of sodium formate, the leather industry utilizes it as a tanning agent and buffering agent to preserve and soften animal hides. It functions as a “camouflage acid” that promotes the uniform penetration of chrome tanning agents, ensuring a high-quality leather finish. Additionally, it helps lower the acidity of tanning solutions and assists in removing impurities to improve final leather quality.
De-icing Agent
