✨Product Desctiption

Sodium ferrocyanide (also known as Yellow Prussiate of Soda, Sodium Hexacyanoferrate(II), or food additive E535) is a yellow crystalline solid with the molecular formula Na₄Fe(CN)₆·10H₂O and a molecular weight of 303.91 g/mol. It is a coordination compound of iron, where the cyanide ligands are tightly bound to the central iron atom, making it significantly less toxic than simple inorganic cyanide salts. The product is highly soluble in water but practically insoluble in most organic solvents such as alcohol.

🧩 Applications

  • Pigment Manufacturing – Serves as the preferred precursor for Prussian blue (ferric ferrocyanide) pigments. The sodium-based pigment offers superior performance in water-based coatings with zero bleeding tendency, outperforming potassium-derived alternatives.

  • Food Industry (E535) – Used as an anticaking agent in table salt and road salt at permitted levels (FDA: 13 mg/kg). Also functions as a food processing aid and crystal modifier.

  • Photographic Industry – Employed as a bleaching and fixing agent in color photographic processing.

  • Metallurgy & Metal Treatment – Acts as a carburizing agent for steel hardening; used in metal surface防腐 (corrosion protection) and pickling baths.

  • Chemical Synthesis – Key raw material for manufacturing sodium ferricyanide (red prussiate).

  • Mineral Processing – Functions as a flotation depressant for copper ore separation.

  • Other Industrial Uses – Heavy metal scavenger/precipitant; polymerization catalyst; dyeing and textile printing auxiliary; cosmetic additive.

🏭 Storage Conditions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse

  • Recommended storage temperature: below 37°C

  • Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination

  • Protect from direct sunlight

  • Keep away from ignition sources and heat

  • Incompatible materials: Store separately from oxidizing agents, reducing agents, flammable materials, and food/edible products

  • Storage area should be equipped with appropriate spill containment materials

  • Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation systems; install static electricity grounding devices
