Uses of (S)-(+)-Glycidyl Phthalimide (CAS: 161596-47-0)
1. Core Chiral Intermediate for Rivaroxaban:
It is the key chiral starting block for manufacturing rivaroxaban, an oral Factor Xa anticoagulant. Its chiral epoxide skeleton directly constructs the chiral amino-alcohol moiety of rivaroxaban API, and can be used as reference standard for Rivaroxaban Impurity 92 in pharmaceutical quality control.
2. Synthetic Building Block for Linezolid Antibiotic:
Applied to synthesize linezolid (oxazolidinone antibacterial agent). It supplies the required S-configured chiral epoxy side chain to form the chiral amino heterocyclic core responsible for antibacterial activity.
3. Intermediate for Antifungal Pharmaceuticals:
Used to prepare thiazolidinone and oxazolidinedione broad-spectrum antifungal APIs. Chiral amino and hydroxyl groups are introduced via epoxide ring-opening reaction.
4. General Chiral Building Block for Medicinal Chemistry & Fine Chemicals:
