A red to dark red powder with no obvious odor. It is non-flammable and non-explosive. Under 365 nm excitation, it emits a bright red fluorescence and is miscible with many petroleum and organic products. This product is a highly conjugated perylene-based fluorescent dye. It can be used as a high-grade pigment for coloring plastics and also as a solvent dye added to oils for applications such as leak detection.
