Applications
● Used as a binder in granules and tablets, thickener and suspending agent in liquid formulations, solubilizer and stabilizer in preparations, film-forming agent and pigment dispersant in coatings, co-precipitant for poorly soluble drugs, sustained-release agent and lubricant in ophthalmic formulations, and controlled-release excipient.
● The functionality of PVP in formulations is closely related to its molecular weight, usage level, solvent, solution concentration, temperature, and processing technique. To achieve optimal formulation performance, it is essential to understand the physical and chemical properties of PVP and select the appropriate molecular weight, dosage, solvent, compatibility, and process based on the intended function in the formulation.
