| Application | Piperine is a broad-spectrum anticonvulsant agent. It exhibits significant protective effects against experimental electroshock-induced seizures in mice. Additionally, it demonstrates varying degrees of efficacy in countering convulsions triggered by pentylenetetrazol (PTZ), picrotoxin, strychnine, as well as those induced by intracerebroventricular administration of tubocurarine and glutamate. Piperine also shows therapeutic potential in certain types of epilepsy. Notably, its insecticidal activity against flies exceeds that of pyrethrin. |
