Osthole

Properties:
Osthol is a substance extracted from the fruit of *Cnidium monnieri*, an annual herb of the Apiaceae family. It appears as a white crystalline powder, insoluble in water and cold petroleum ether, readily soluble in acetone, methanol, ethanol, chloroform, chloroform, and ethyl acetate, and soluble in boiling petroleum ether.

Uses:
It possesses antispasmodic, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, immune-enhancing, and broad-spectrum antibacterial effects.
Osthol can also be used as a field insecticide and fungicide, primarily through contact action.
