Vobra duo hydrochloride (CAS: 1290543-63-3), also known as NioGlustat in some contexts, is a novel aldose reductase inhibitor (ARI) developed by Senju Pharmaceutical in Japan. It is designed to target diabetic complications by inhibiting the polyol pathway.
Mechanism of Action:
It blocks the reduction of glucose to sorbitol by inhibiting the enzyme aldose reductase. Excessive sorbitol accumulation under hyperglycemic conditions contributes to osmotic and oxidative stress, leading to diabetic complications.
