1.Introduction

Dopamine, a neurotransmitter, is widely distributed in the central nervous system, brain tissue, and body fluids of mammals. Its trace measurement is of great significance in neurophysiology, exercise physiology, pathology, clinical medicine, and disease diagnosis. Dopamine (DA) is one of the most important catecholamines, playing a key role in the central nervous system and renal system. Disruptions in dopamine secretion within the body can lead to diseases such as heart disease, schizophrenia, and Parkinson’s disease. Dopamine hydrochloride is highly water-soluble, enhances myocardial contractility, increases cardiac output, and is widely used in the treatment of shock syndromes caused by myocardial infarction, trauma, endotoxin sepsis, cardiac surgery, renal failure, and congestive heart failure.

2.Chemical Properties

White needle-like crystals or crystalline powder. Melting point 240–241°C (decomposes). Soluble in water, methanol, and hot 95% ethanol; soluble in sodium hydroxide solution; insoluble in ether, chloroform, and benzene. Odorless, with a slightly bitter taste.

3.Applications

Dopamine hydrochloride can be used for various types of shock and hypotension, including toxic shock, cardiogenic shock, hemorrhagic shock, and central shock. It is particularly effective for patients with renal insufficiency, reduced cardiac output, increased peripheral vascular resistance, and adequate blood volume. It can also be used to treat heart failure and acute renal failure.
