4.Production Method
Heat diethyl oxalate to vigorously release carbon monoxide at 130–150°C. After gas evolution subsides, gradually increase temperature while maintaining reflux until gas emission ceases. Distill to obtain diethyl methylmalonate with a yield of 97%.
