Applications:
Trans-1,2-cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid is used as a ligand in analytical reagents, and is used to prepare lanthanide shift reagents, metal complexing agents, and metal masking agents.
Uses:
1.2-Cyclohexanediaminetetraacetic acid (DCTA), also known as Cyclinhexadiaminetetraacetic acid, is a white powdery crystal with a melting point of 215°C (soluble in alkaline solutions). It is insoluble in water and organic solvents, losing its water of crystallization above 70°C. It forms stable chelates with various metals, including Fe, N, Cu, Zn, and Cd. It is commonly used as a titration reagent for Cd, Fe, Co, and Zr, for rapid determination of calcium in bones and teeth, and for complexometric titration of copper, thorium, and sulfates. It is also used as a metal ion complexing agent and masking agent. It is also an additive in agricultural chemical sprays and daily cosmetics, a blood anticoagulant, a dyeing auxiliary, a fiber treatment agent, a synthetic rubber polymerization initiator, a bleaching fixer used in color photographic material processing, and a stabilizer. Its chemical properties are similar to those of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EITA), but it offers greater stability and superior performance.
