Calcium pimelate monohydrate can be used as an organic synthesis intermediate and pharmaceutical intermediate, primarily in laboratory R&D and pharmaceutical chemical production processes[1].
In the plastics industry, calcium pimelate serves as an efficient β-nucleating agent, improving the crystalline properties of polypropylene (PP) and enhancing its mechanical performance (e.g., toughness, rigidity)[2][6][8].
Research indicates that calcium pimelate can induce the formation of β-crystals in polypropylene, increase crystallization temperature, and optimize material properties[8].
It can also be combined with graphene to form a high-efficiency composite nucleating agent, further enhancing the crystallization performance and mechanical strength of polypropylene[6].
In the modification of recycled polypropylene, calcium pimelate acts as a β-nucleating agent, improving the material’s strength and toughness, making it suitable for eco-friendly plastic products[2].
Although its current applications mainly focus on pharmaceutical intermediates and plastic modification, the structural characteristics of calcium pimelate (e.g., calcium ion coordination ability) may enable potential uses in catalysts, functional materials, and other fields.
