White birch (Betula platyphylla Suk.) is a deciduous tree in the Betulaceae family. Also known as birch, birch, and birch bark, it is a common species in northern temperate zones. It is native to Northeast and North China, as well as the former Soviet Far East, Eastern Siberia, eastern Mongolia, northern Korea, and Japan. Its bark is a common folk medicine.

According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, “Birch has a bitter taste, a mild aroma, and is non-toxic. For mastitis, a daily dose of ash from aged birch bark mixed with wine can cure it.” Birch bark is also used to treat jaundice, dysentery, scabies, and other diseases. Recent studies by domestic and international scholars have shown that birch bark extracts possess antibacterial, antiviral, anti-tumor, lipid-regulating, choleretic, and hepatoprotective properties.

Its main applications include:

1. Antioxidant Effects

Btulin has strong antioxidant properties, scavenging free radicals and slowing the aging process.

2. Anti-inflammatory Effects

Btulin can inhibit the production of inflammatory factors and reduce inflammatory responses.

3. Immune Modulation

Btulin can enhance immunity and improve disease resistance, making it suitable as a daily supplement for people with compromised immunity.

4. Assists in Lowering Blood Lipids and Protecting the Liver

Studies have shown that betulin can help lower blood lipids and protect liver health, making it suitable for people with hyperlipidemia and abnormal liver function.

5. Anti-tumor Potential (Aiding Health Care)

Btulin has demonstrated some anti-tumor activity in vitro and in animal studies, and as a dietary supplement, it can assist in health management.
