Dibenzyl ether is used as a spice and is mainly used to prepare mushroom and cherry flavors.
Dibenzyl ether can be used as a toughening agent for nitrocellulose and a solvent for formulating flavors, and can also be used as a moderate anti-aging agent. It can also be used as a solvent for plasticizers for nitrocellulose, chemicalbook cellulose acetate, resins, rubbers, waxes, artificial musks, etc. The mixture of dibenzyl ether and zinc oxide is a repellent for mosquitoes, flies, vegetation and fleas.
