4,4′-Thiobis(6-tert-butyl-m-cresol), commonly known as Antioxidant 300 or TBBC, is a high-performance phenolic antioxidant with the molecular formula C₂₂H₃₀O₂S and a molecular weight of 358.54 g/mol. The compound features two sterically hindered cresol units linked by a sulfur atom, a structure that provides exceptional thermal stability and oxidation resistance.

🧩 Applications

• Plastics Industry – Used as a stabilizer in polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for applications including pipes and fittings, water and gas pipeline materials, high-voltage cable casings, and agricultural greenhouse films.

• Rubber Industry – Provides excellent protection for light-colored rubber products, neoprene compounds, and other synthetic rubbers against oxidation and deterioration.

• Polymer Stabilization – Functions as a radical scavenger, inhibiting thermal decomposition by reacting with free radicals generated during processing or heat exposure.

• Additional Applications – Used as an additive in lubricants, adhesives, coatings, and petroleum products to improve performance and durability. It is also employed as a stabilizer in polyolefin packaging materials for foodstuffs.
