3-ISOCYANATOPROPYLTRIS(TRIMETHYLSILOXY )SILANE is a silane coupling agent containing isocyanate groups. Its core function is to bond organic polymers with inorganic substrates, improving interfacial adhesion, weather resistance and moisture resistance.
 

I. Core Application Fields

 

1. Polyurethane (PU) Systems (Primary Application)

 
  • Coatings: Used in the preparation of weather-resistant, water-resistant and high-adhesion polyurethane coatings (e.g., industrial anti-corrosion coatings, wood coatings, automotive refinish coatings), significantly enhancing adhesion to metal, glass, ceramic and concrete substrates.
  • Adhesives / Sealants: Applied as a crosslinking agent and adhesion promoter in one-component / two-component polyurethane adhesives and sealants, improving bonding strength and resistance to heat and humidity aging on glass, metal, stone and plastic.
  • Elastomers / Foams: Used to modify polyurethane elastomers and microcellular foams, enhancing hydrolysis resistance, chemical resistance and low-temperature flexibility.
 

2. Silane-Modified Polymers (SMP / MS / SPUR)

 
Used as an end-capping agent / coupling agent in the production of silane-terminated polyethers (MS) and silane-modified polyurethanes (SPUR), providing materials with moisture-curing, solvent-free, low-VOC and high-elongation properties. Widely used in construction, automotive and electronic sealants.
 

3. Composite Materials & Surface Treatment

 
  • Glass Fiber / Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites: Treats glass fibers and carbon fibers to improve interfacial bonding with epoxy resins, phenolic resins and polyurethanes, enhancing mechanical strength, water resistance and weather resistance of composites.
  • Inorganic Filler Modification: Surface-treats inorganic fillers such as silica, calcium carbonate, talc and mica, improving dispersibility in organic resins (PU, epoxy, acrylic) and enhancing composite strength, modulus and weatherability.
  • Metal / Glass Surface Pretreatment: Used as a primer to improve adhesion of subsequent coatings and adhesives to metals (aluminum, steel, stainless steel), glass and ceramics.

  • Rubber Modification: Applied in silicone rubber and polyurethane rubber to enhance bonding to metal frameworks, and improve oil resistance, aging resistance and low-temperature flexibility.
  • Ink & Coating Additives: Used as an adhesion promoter and leveling agent in UV-curable and solvent-based inks and coatings to improve adhesion to plastic and metal substrates.
  • Electronic Potting / Encapsulation: Used in polyurethane and epoxy potting compounds for electronic components, improving adhesion to PCBs and metal leads, as well as moisture resistance, insulation and temperature resistance.
