The 5′ cap structure at the 5′ end of mRNA is an important component of complete mRNA. The 5′ cap can protect mRNA from being cleaved by 5′ -3′ exonucleases, thereby enhancing the stability of mRNA. Moreover, the 5′ cap is also an identifier for pre-mRNA splicing, polyadenylation, and nuclear export. The CBC (Cap Binding Complex) binds to mRNA by recognizing the 5′ cap and then further recruits related protein factors to splice and polyadenylate the mRNA, and assist in the nuclear export of mRNA.
