| Usage | A trade name for diamidophenol, a developing agent for silver bromide gelatin emulsions that was introduced by Dr. Anderson in 1892. Amidol made negatives grayish black, with very little fog. It was favored over other alkaline developers because it could facilitate faster exposures. |
