Uses  
Pharmaceutical intermediates:  As a multi-halogenated aromatic building block, they are commonly used in the synthesis of drug molecules with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial or anti-tumor activities. The trifluoromethoxy group (-OCF₃) can enhance the metabolic stability and lipophilicity of the molecules.
