- Description
This product is a water-soluble synthetic polymer compound, which is a linear homopolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone. Its molecular formula is (C₆H₉NO)ₙ, where n represents the average number of N-vinylpyrrolidone units. Among the various grades, Povidone K30 is the most widely used in excipient applications, with an average viscosity molecular weight of 3.8×10⁴. Other common grades include Povidone K15, K25, and K90, with average viscosity molecular weights of 0.77×10⁴, 2.5×10⁴, and 63×10⁴, respectively. - Product Specifications

Product Characteristics
● White to off-white amorphous powder; odorless or slightly characteristic odor; tasteless; hygroscopic; soluble in water, ethanol, isopropanol, glycerol, or chloroform; insoluble in acetone, ether, and hydrocarbon solvents.
● Forms solid complexes with many compounds, especially those containing active hydrogen atoms or metal carbonyl compounds, leading to significant but reversible changes in properties such as solubility, volatility, stability, toxicity, and irritation. This feature allows for the development of new functional dosage forms or improvement of existing formulations.
● Chemically stable under normal conditions and exhibits strong resistance to heat, acids, and alkalis. - Applications
● Used as a binder in granules and tablets, thickener and suspending agent in liquid formulations, solubilizer and stabilizer in preparations, film-forming agent and pigment dispersant in coatings, co-precipitant for poorly soluble drugs, sustained-release agent and lubricant in ophthalmic formulations, and controlled-release excipient.
● The functionality of PVP in formulations is closely related to its molecular weight, usage level, solvent, solution concentration, temperature, and processing technique. To achieve optimal formulation performance, it is essential to understand the physical and chemical properties of PVP and select the appropriate molecular weight, dosage, solvent, compatibility, and process based on the intended function in the formulation. - Packaging
25KG fiber drums, all-paper square drums, or PP drums.
