II.Application
1.Personal Care and Cosmetic Products
Its polymer forms a breathable, flexible film on hair that provides moisture retention and style hold even under humid conditions. It also acts as a rheology modifier to adjust the consistency and spreadability of emulsions or gels.
2.Oilfield Recovery Aids
With hydrophobic association behaviour, it serves as a heat‑ and salt‑tolerant viscosifier in drilling and fracturing fluids to improve proppant transport. In enhanced oil recovery, it increases sweep efficiency and helps boost ultimate crude oil extraction.
3.Electronic Chemicals and Optical Materials
Polymers incorporating this monomer are used in chemically amplified photoresists to achieve higher resolution and etch resistance in lithography. Copolymerisation also enables refractive‑index tailoring for optical films, anti‑reflective coatings, and display overlays.
4.Hydrophobic Modifier
As a comonomer, it introduces bulky tert‑butyl pendants that lower surface energy and enhance water‑repellency and stain resistance. This modification is often applied to outdoor plastics or sealants requiring low moisture uptake and good weatherability.
5.Water Treatment and Solid‑Liquid Separation
