1.Protein Crosslinking and Immobilization

It is often used together with EDC to covalently attach proteins or antibodies to solid phase carriers such as magnetic beads, microplates, and chromatography media. It can also pre-activate the carrier surface, enabling the carrier to directly bind antibodies. This is widely applied in biological detection, affinity purification, and biosensor preparation.

2.Biomolecule Labeling

As a linking intermediate, it efficiently attaches biotin or fluorescent groups to proteins, peptides, and other molecules. The labeled target molecules can then be conveniently separated, captured, or visualized, and are commonly used for molecular tracking and identification in various biological research studies.

3.Aqueous Phase Compatibility

The sulfonate group in its molecule gives it good water solubility, which helps maintain the natural conformation and biological activity of proteins, antibodies, and other biomolecules during aqueous-phase reactions.
