Metaldehyde

Introduction;

Metaldehyde is a white powder, while industrial grade is a grayish-white or pale yellow powder with a rotten egg odor. It is sparingly soluble in water and insoluble in most organic solvents, but soluble in pyridine. It is unstable to light, heat, and humidity, and easily decomposes into carbon disulfide. Its effectiveness is reduced when it comes into contact with alkaline substances or substances such as copper and mercury, which readily release carbon disulfide. It has low volatility. The so-called protection refers to providing plants with the element Zn, which, in addition to addressing zinc deficiency symptoms, enhances the plant’s resistance to diseases, thus relatively playing a bactericidal role.
