Magnesium chloride, also known as halite, has the chemical formula MgCl₂. The most common form is hexahydrate magnesium chloride, also known as hydrated magnesium chloride, with the chemical formula MgCl₂·6H₂O and a molecular weight of 203.30. Product Characteristics
● Magnesium chloride is a white, lustrous hexagonal crystal that is highly hygroscopic. It is odourless and has a bitter taste. Relative molecular mass: 95.22. Density: 2.32 g/cm³. Melting point: 714°C. Boiling point: 1412°C. Sparingly soluble in acetone, soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, and pyridine. It deliquesces and emits smoke in moist air, sublimates when heated to white heat in a hydrogen gas stream, and is highly soluble in water while releasing heat vigorously. - Applications
