Chemical Properties;
Orange red single prism crystal. Melting point 203.5℃ (partial sublimation). Easily soluble in hot ethanol, slightly soluble in ether, soluble in hot water, benzene, acetone, and soluble in alkali metal hydroxides. The solution is purple-red, turns yellow after standing, and is extremely weakly alkaline. Has a bitter taste.

Purpose;
Isatin is used as an intermediate for dyes and medicines, and is used in the production of the drugs cincofen and dye dispersion yellow E-3G; in chemical analysis, it is a reagent for the determination of cuprous ions, thiols, thiophenes, and urinol.

Purpose;
Used in the preparation of vat dyes and drugs.

Purpose;
Isatin is used as a reference material for the preparation of indigo and Maya blue; used for the preparation of diazinone derivatives, spiro-oxindole derivatives, and reagents for expressing P-glycoprotein in multidrug-resistant cells; thiazole-4-one becomes indole 2-one through spiro ring fusing, as a powerful selective inhibitor of Mycobacterium tuberculosis protein tyrosine phosphatase B, triazole as a powerful antibacterial agent and antifungal agent -isatine complex, bioactive related structures such as spirocycle (indole-thiazol-4-one); used for tandem reactions with heterocyclic ketene amines and Knoevenagel concentration reactions; Isatin utilizes direct sp2/sp3C-H bond activation reaction and Pd(II)-catalyzed C-H addition reaction to form 3-substituted-3-hydroxy 2-hydroxyindole.
