What is Hydroxypropyl guar gum?

Hydroxypropyl guar gum is obtained by chemically modifying natural plant guar gum powder.

HYDROXYPROPYL GUAR is Is a nonionic occurring polymer. It has good hydrophilicity and resistance to electrolyte properties.

It is used in daily chemical products It can effectively reduce the chemical detergent on the skin irritation , protect keratin from damage, make the skin smooth and tender, reduce the loss of natural lipids in the skin, and increase skin softness.

Applications

Hydroxypropyl guar gum (HPG) is a modified polysaccharide widely used as a thickener, stabilizer, and gelling agent in various industries due to its excellent water-binding and film-forming properties.

1. Personal Care & Cosmetics
HPG is a key ingredient in shampoos, conditioners, and body washes, where it enhances viscosity, improves texture, and provides a smooth feel. It also stabilizes emulsions in lotions and creams, preventing separation.

2. Food Industry
As a food additive (E412), HPG acts as a thickener and stabilizer in dairy products, sauces, and baked goods, improving moisture retention and shelf life. It is also used in gluten-free products to mimic dough elasticity.

3. Oil & Gas Industry
In hydraulic fracturing (fracking), HPG increases the viscosity of drilling fluids, improving proppant suspension and fluid efficiency. It also reduces friction in pipelines.

4. Pharmaceuticals
HPG serves as a binder in tablets and a viscosity enhancer in liquid medications. Its biocompatibility makes it suitable for controlled drug delivery systems.

5. Textiles & Paper
HPG is used in textile printing for improved dye retention and in paper manufacturing for enhanced strength and smoothness.

With its versatility, HPG remains a vital additive across multiple sectors.
