Product Introduction: Heparin Lithium Salt

Heparin Lithium Salt, CAS No. 9045-22-1, is one of the most commonly used high-efficiency anticoagulants in clinical testing and life science research. It belongs to the protein category. Its key advantage lies in minimal interference with electrolyte, blood gas, and ionized calcium tests, making it irreplaceable in various precise testing scenarios. It is widely used in clinical testing, life science research, and other related fields.

This product appears as a white or almost white powder with a potency of ≥ 150 IU/mg, which can precisely meet the activity requirements of various applications. As the lithium salt form of heparin, it causes extremely low interference with blood electrolyte detection during anticoagulation. Compared with other heparin salts, it is more suitable for the analysis of blood sodium, blood calcium and other indicators in clinical biochemical testing, and is one of the preferred anticoagulants for in vitro diagnostic blood collection tubes.

I. Applications in Clinical Testing (Main Uses)

1. Anticoagulation for Blood Samples (Additive for Blood Collection Tubes)

Suitable for dark green/light green cap blood collection tubes (with gel separator), enabling rapid anticoagulation and plasma separation.

It is widely used in emergency biochemistry, routine biochemistry, electrolyte analysis, blood gas analysis, hematocrit, hemorheology, erythrocyte fragility test, etc.

It has the advantages of non-hemolysis, no change in red blood cell volume, and much lower interference with Na⁺/K⁺/Ca²⁺/Cl⁻ detection than heparin sodium.

2. Preferred Anticoagulant for Electrolyte and Ion Detection

It is the only recommended anticoagulant for the combined detection of ionized calcium (iCa), blood gas and electrolytes.

It avoids sodium interference from heparin sodium in blood sodium determination, making it highly suitable for rapid testing in ICUs and emergency departments.

3. Plasma as an Alternative to Serum Testing

Plasma anticoagulated with this product can replace serum for most test items, including liver function, renal function, blood lipids, myocardial enzymes, blood glucose, etc.

(Exceptions: a few indicators such as HBD, LDH, TBA.)

II. Scientific Research and Laboratory Applications

1. Cellular and Molecular Biology

It can be used in cell culture to maintain cell viability and inhibit blood coagulation, suitable for 2D/3D tumor models (e.g., glioblastoma).

It is applied in protein interaction research to explore the binding mechanism of heparin with coagulation factors, growth factors and cell surface receptors.

It can also be used for cell surface charge measurement, low-temperature stress and lactic acid metabolism research.

2. Biomedical Research

Used as an anticoagulant for blood collection in animal experiments, in vitro coagulation function research and anticoagulation experiments in membrane perfusion systems.

In cardiovascular research, it protects cardiac pacemaker cells and prevents blood coagulation and tissue damage during mechanical detection.

3. Diagnostic Reagent Development

Used as an anticoagulant additive in supporting reagents for blood gas analyzers, biochemical analyzers and blood collection tube production.

III. Other Applications

In the field of medical devices: used as an anticoagulant coating for blood gas needles, blood collection needles and extracorporeal circulation circuits to prevent blood coagulation.

In the pharmaceutical field: used as an anticoagulant stabilizer for some injections and biological preparations to improve product stability.

With stable anticoagulant performance, this product plays an important role in clinical testing, scientific research experiments and related industrial fields.

It is strictly prohibited for human injection and only used for in vitro testing, scientific research and non-injection applications.
