Chemical Properties:
Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate is an organic peroxide with strong oxidizing properties. Upon thermal decomposition, it readily generates highly reactive free radicals, exhibiting thermal instability and potentially decomposing at relatively low temperatures. The decomposition of Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate releases a large amount of heat and gases, raising the temperature and accelerating decomposition. These gaseous substances can create pressure sufficient to destroy sealed packaging, leading to explosions and fires.

Characteristics:
Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate exhibits excellent compatibility and photostability compared to other sunscreen agents and cosmetic ingredients.

Synthesis:
3.5 L of dichloromethane, 355 g (1.35 mol) of 2-hexyloxycarbonylbenzoic acid (VII), 17.17 g (0.139 mol) of 4-dimethylaminopyridine, and 333.8 g (2.02 mol) of 3-diethylaminophenol (X) were added to a 5 L four-necked round flask, which was immersed in a hot bath equipped with a mechanical stirrer, thermometer, dropping funnel, and cooler connected to a calcium chloride tube. The solution was cooled to 20–25°C. 321.6 g (1.55 mol) of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide was slowly added. The resulting mixture was stirred at 20–25°C for 4 hours. The total conversion of 2-hexyloxycarbonylbenzoic acid (VII) was monitored by thin-layer chromatography (Cl3CH:AcOEt; 80:20). The resulting dicyclohexylurea was filtered off. The filter cake was washed with 530 mL of dichloromethane. Wash the dichloromethane solution with 1.79 L of 2N sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. Concentrate the mixture under reduced pressure. Dissolve the resulting oil in n-heptane. Wash with 1.2 L of 4N AcOH aqueous solution, 300 mL of 20% sodium carbonate aqueous solution, and 600 mL of water. Stir with activated carbon until the solution changes color. Filter the discolored solution. Concentrate the mixture under reduced pressure to obtain Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate.
