✨Physical properties
Appearance: White to off-white flowing powder, possibly with a slight peculiar smell.
Melting point: Approximately 239°C – 250°C.
Solubility: Easily soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, almost insoluble in ether. When the aqueous solution is shaken, it will produce a large amount of foam.
Stability: Chemically stable in the dry state and in the aqueous solution at room temperature. The aqueous solution can be sterilized by high temperature and high pressure. However, it should be noted that it has a certain hygroscopicity.
Other: As a cationic surfactant, it can be well combined with cationic, non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants, but is incompatible with anionic surfactants (such as soap).
🎯Properties and Characteristics
1. Composition of the mixture
Cis-brucine is not a single compound but a mixture. Its main component is tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide, while it also contains a smaller proportion of dodecyl and hexadecyl trimethylammonium bromide. This characteristic distinguishes its application from other high-purity single-component substances (such as pure tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide with CAS number 1119-97-7).
2. Surfactivity
As a typical cationic quaternary ammonium salt surfactant, it possesses excellent properties such as penetration, emulsification, anti-staticity and biodegradability.
3. Antibacterial Properties
Succinylcholine bromide is an effective antibacterial preservative and disinfectant. It is commonly used in cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations. In medicine, the diluted solution (0.1% – 1%) can be used as a local antibacterial agent for skin, wounds, and burns.
4. Multi-functional Applications
Personal care and medicine: As a preservative in eye drops (at a concentration of approximately 0.005%); also used in anti-dandruff shampoos; in ophthalmological examinations, its gel form can be used for lubrication and to assist in the examination process.
Industry and Research: Used as emulsifiers for synthetic rubber, silicone oil and asphalt; anti-static agents and softeners for synthetic fibers; phase transfer catalysts in organic synthesis; ion-pair reagents in analytical chemistry; and surfactants in the production of solder paste, etc.
🔬Safety and Storage
Hazardousness: The pure substance is irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract, and may even cause burns. Ingestion in error is highly toxic and should be avoided.
Drug interaction contraindications: Do not use in combination with anionic surfactants (such as soap), high-concentration non-ionic surfactants, iodine, alkalis, etc.
Storage conditions: It is recommended to store in an airtight container, in a dry place, and at room temperature.
