  • Superficial Eye Infections: It is indicated for infections of the conjunctiva and cornea caused by susceptible organisms 

  • Blepharitis: It is used to treat blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids). Treatment involves removing scales and crusts from the lid margins, followed by the application of the ointment 

  • Off-Label Use for Eye Parasites: The American Academy of Ophthalmology recommends bacitracin ophthalmic ointment as a treatment for Pediculosis palpebrarum, an infestation of the eyelashes by the pubic louse (Phthirus pubis). The ointment is applied for approximately 10 days to smother adult lice and nits
