Colorless liquid. Melting point -76℃, boiling point 69.2℃ (102kPa), 68.8℃ (101.3kPa), relative density 0.7267 (20/4℃), refractive index 1.4380, flash point -22℃. It is soluble in organic solvents but insoluble in water. It can polymerize when heated or exposed to sunlight for a long time.

5.production methodprocess:
It is obtained by catalytic dehydration of pinol (tetramethylethylene glycol) with hydrobromic acid. Slowly heat pinol and 48% hydrobromic acid, and collect the distillate until 95℃. The upper liquid is washed with water containing a small amount of hydroquinone, dried with anhydrous calcium chloride, and then fractionated to obtain the finished product.
