🧩Application of 2-phthalimidoethanesulfonamide CAS No.: 4443-23-6

This product is a high-end key pharmaceutical intermediate. Featuring a bifunctional structure composed of phthalimide (amino protecting group) and sulfonamide active group, it serves as a widely adopted building block in organic synthesis and new drug research and development.

1. Primary Application: Synthesis of 2-Aminoethanesulfonamide Hydrochloride (CAS: 89756-60-5)

Phthalimide is a classic amino protecting group. Deprotection of this raw material via hydrazinolysis enables high-yield preparation of 2-aminoethanesulfonamide hydrochloride, the fundamental raw material for all downstream pharmaceutical synthesis.

This derivative constitutes the core skeleton of APIs for anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, diuretic and anti-epileptic drugs.

Synthetic advantages: The protecting group boasts strong chemical stability, convenient purification after reaction, excellent crystallinity and high yield in mass production.

2. New Drug Development & Synthesis of Pharmaceutical Intermediates

Anti-inflammatory Drugs

Taking advantage of the property of sulfonamides to inhibit NF-κB and TNF-α inflammatory pathways, the product is used to synthesize precursors of targeted drugs for chronic inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as derivatives of thalidomide-type immunomodulators.

Anti-tumor Targeted Small-Molecule Drugs

It is applied to construct anti-cancer drug candidates with sulfonamide structures, improving the water solubility and in-vivo metabolic stability of pharmaceuticals, and is commonly used for constructing lead compounds of kinase inhibitor new drugs.

Antibacterial, Diuretic and Neurological Drugs

As sulfonamide represents the classic structural motif of traditional antibacterial agents, this product can be used to synthesize intermediates for new-generation sulfa bacteriostats, hypotensive diuretics and anticonvulsants.
