II. Application

1. Polyurethane Field

1,5-Pentanediol is used as a raw material for polyester polyols to modify polyurethane elastomers. The modified resin exhibits excellent mechanical strength, water resistance, heat resistance, and oxidation resistance, widely used in mechanical parts, automotive parts, leather, and specialty fibers. Polyurethane adhesives synthesized from it have high viscosity, high strength, solvent resistance, and wear resistance, showing great development potential in shoe making, packaging, and construction fields.

2. Polyester Field

Unsaturated polyesters synthesized from 1,5-pentanediol have carbon chains that are more difficult to hydrolyze than those of short-chain alcohols, with better flexibility. They can improve the alkali resistance of resins and enhance adhesion to glass fibers. The produced polyesters are used in the production of wires and cables, offering high insulation and flexibility, with increasing market applications.

3. Plasticizer Field

Plasticizers using 1,5-pentanediol exhibit excellent properties in volatility resistance, anti-blooming properties, migration resistance, and low-temperature performance compared to low molecular weight plasticizers, widely used in plastics, rubber, epoxy resins, and other materials.

4. Coatings and Inks Field

1,5-Pentanediol is a key raw material for UV-curable coatings, featuring low viscosity, fast curing speed, low volatility, good flexibility, and strong hydrolysis resistance. In inkjet inks, high-viscosity inks made with a mixture of glycerol and 1,5-pentanediol as wetting agents can print high-quality images with good tone and chroma at high speeds on plain paper without clogging the print head.
