Overview;
1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor. It is an ideal solvent for dissolving polyamides and esters and can be used to analyze nylon. Typically, a small amount of sodium trifluoroacetate can be added to the eluent to reduce sample aggregation. Although 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol has a certain viscosity, its boiling point is very low, and analysis is usually performed at 40°C to reduce column back pressure. 1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol is also a highly polar solvent, which can cause calibration curves obtained from mixed-bed columns to become nonlinear.
Applications;
1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol is an important fluorinated fine chemical that can be used to prepare fluorinated surfactants, fluorinated emulsifiers, fluorinated pharmaceuticals, and other fluorinated chemicals, or as a good solvent. It can improve the efficiency of rhodium(I)-catalyzed [4+2] intramolecular cycloaddition reactions of ether-bound alkynyl dienes and [5+2] cycloaddition reactions of alkynylvinylcyclopropane; liquid-phase peptide chemical solvent; a highly soluble solvent for peptides and peptide intermediates; used for the analysis of various polymers.
Applications:
1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2-propanol can be used to prepare a variety of high-end chemicals such as fluorinated surfactants, fluorinated emulsifiers, and fluorinated pharmaceuticals, as well as as a solvent or cleaning agent in the electronics industry.
